I'm Off: To India!

Straight to the Subcontinent (with a layover in Amsterdam)! Then I'm going to dive into a long tubular masala dosa and do the backstroke through some sambar sauce. (Also looks like I could smoke it.)
It was a whim. I bought the ticket Tuesday - extra cheap because it's scorching/monsoon season. Nothing like being a soggy heap of boiled tourist slop (but may I remind you, a totally orgasmic one) traversing the ghats, those inlets leading to the Ganges. Leaving today. Packing at the moment. I will try to update the blog a bit while I'm away. try. try. it's a word with little meaning. But I will try!
Planning on visiting some old friends. And maybe preaching the orgasm gospel, but probably not. I'm bringing the sacred orgasm texts with me, just in case i get the inclination. But there's not too much room in the bag. packing lightly. I've even got a Q-tip quota. only one per day. gotta love those cottony little batons. I'd kiss (sloppy-granny style) the man/woman who invented them.
Okay, I'm off. Namaste. And all that shanti shanti stuff. Mango lassi to you. Til I land.

Vulva Interview: With Lilac

This is a reoccurring interview that the TFC blog conducts with random women. The idea is to show how varied and unique each woman's sexual experience can be. To protect the interviewee's privacy, she will be identified as her favorite flower.

TFC: What does an orgasm feel like to you?

L: It feels really warm and pleasant. More comforting than mind blowing. I feel tingles up my back, but it's always a different variation of the same sensation.

TFC: In what circumstance did you have your most recent orgasm?

L: It was with a partner. My husband.

TFC: Have you ever had trouble reaching orgasm? If so, how did it make you feel?

L: Yes. It makes me feel like my body is broken.

TFC: What did you do to fix it?

L: I'm always working on it. I do acupunture and therapy. Basically, I do anything that helps me accept myself and my body. The more I'm happy with myself, the better orgasms I have.

TFC: When's the last time you looked at your vulva?

L: I can't remember the last time. She's still there though.

TFC: What does your vulva look like to you?

L: Hmmm...I think it just looks like a vulva.

TFC: Do you have any specific nicknames for your vulva?

L: I call her, 'her'. I make sure my husband calls her 'her' as well. He's been trained. "May I touch her," he says.

Bad News: China's Love Land Shut Down Before Opening

That was a fast turn of events. Love Land, which was set to open October 1st in the Chongquing municipality, will no longer be. It was ordered to be torn down by local authorities who viewed the sex-themed park as vulgar. (wow, that's some gigantic genitalia)

Orgasm News: China Catching Up

The Guardian reports today that China is building its first ever sex-themed park. The statue that welcomes visitors is a little worrisome in that the woman doesn't exist above her hips, but if it helps the 72% come that Li Yinhe, an expert on sexual attitudes at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, says aren't coming, then more power to them!

Vulva Interview: With Peony

This is a reoccurring interview that the TFC blog conducts with random women. The idea is to show how varied and unique each woman's sexual experience can be. To protect the interviewee's privacy, she will be identified as her favorite flower.

TFC: What does an orgasm feel like to you?

P: Kind of like building building building and the an explosion. Like a damn when the water builds behind it and then it breaks from all the pressure. The dam breaks and then its just flowing and flowing.

TFC: In what circumstance did you have your last orgasm?

P: It was with myself. It was good.  My hips actually still hurt from that one because of the way my legs were. Haha.

TFC: Have you ever lost your orgasm or had trouble achieving orgasm?

P: It’s really hard for me to come during oral sex. I wish I could. I used to be able to, but for the past five years it’s been difficult. I don't know why.  It feels really great anyway, but still when a guy is going down on me and I can’t come, I keep wondering what’s wrong with me. Then I think about it and then I feel all this pressure to have an orgasm instead of just going on and enjoying the moment. I get frustrated, but maybe only for fear the guy won't be gratified. I want to give him the I-made-her-come gold medal. urghhhh...

TFC: When's the last time you looked at your vulva?

P: This morning. I look at her all the time.

TFC: What does your vulva look like to you?

P: My vulva specifically...she looks like a little animal. A little penis eating animal. She's got a little mouth with some hair. Definitely a mammal.

TFC: Do you have a name for her?

P: I call her my pussy. I would like to name her something more specific; maybe I'll call herpeony.

Orgasmic Interview

Carrie Seim of Betty Confidential conducted a fun interview with me. Q&A is up.

In Search of the Big "O"

Exclusive Interview with Mara Altman, author of "Thanks for Coming"

-Carrie Seim

Like many women, Mara Altman struggled to reach orgasm. In fact, she'd gone through 26 years of life, five ("and a half") sexual partners, and piles of encouragement from sexually open parents and friends - yet still, zero Os.

So Mara, being braver (crazier?) than most, decided to write an emotionally honest and unabashedly detailed book about her quest for an orgasm. Thanks for Coming recounts her visits to sexual shamans, her chats with porn stars and her evenings with a sexual surrogate. The results are anything but anticlimactic.

Mara opened up about her O-quest to BettyConfidential's Carrie Seim.

Carrie Seim: Why did you decide to write a book about your quest for an orgasm?

Mara Altman: I actually had a friend suggest the topic to me. (He knew of my orgasmic difficulties). I became incredibly defensive and pissed off. I didn't speak to him for a few days. But then the idea kind of grew on me and I realized that I could hit two birds with one stone--put my journalistic and writing interests to work while going on a personal journey for something that had left me mystified (and somewhat frustrated) my whole life.

Free Samples

Any kind of sample - even sprouts - brings joy to my life. (And just so you know, I didn't take two; the person I was with didn't want her's...though I should admit that I've been known to go renegade on the one per-person rule. Sometimes I just can't help myself).

A Simple Pleasure

Breakfast in bed. Definitely a good thing. Even better when not in your own bed as syrup and full-to-the-rim cups of coffee are often a very essential part of the equation.
